2019 Malibu Half Marathon & 5K Training Program

Sports Academy running coaches will be providing a comprehensive training program in preparation for the Malibu Half Marathon & 5K on November 3, 2019. The Training Program will focus on proper running progression, running form, and injury prevention by taking your through a planned gradual training plan. Runners will participate in our Mamba ADULT RUN CLUB which includes a weekly training schedule, three group training sessions per week, and a fun group of dedicated coaches and teammates to run with!

12 Week Program: August 12th- November 2nd, 2019 (Recommended for Half Marathoners)
8 Week Program: September 9th- November 2nd, 2019 (Recommended for Half Marathoners & 5K Runners)

Training Schedule:
Monday @ Sports Academy
6:00am, 9:00am or 6:00pm
Athletes will complete a strength conditioning session at our world-class facility. Sessions will focus on increasing strength endurance, balance, and mobility/flexibility. The 6:00am session will take place in the Sand Volleyball Courts at Mamba for an added challenge. The 9:00am and 6:00pm session will include a run (2-3 miles) and complete a strength session specific for runners.

6:00am, 9:00am or 6:00pm

Saturday @ Various Locations including on the Malibu Half Course
Athletes will meet our running coaches at various locations to run on local trails and portions of the Malibu 5K & Half Marathon Course to get familiar with the terrain for optimum performance on race day.

12 Week Program: Aug. 12th– Nov. 2nd, 2019, $285
8 Week Program: Sept. 9th– Nov. 2nd, 2019, $190

*cost does not include Malibu Half race fees

Adult Running Club

The Adult Running Club meets weekly to work on speed and endurance in preparation for road races, trail/adventure runs, triathlons, and for general fitness.Runners will work with our skilled running coaches to perfect running form and technique, improve core strengthening, and mobility/flexibility.

6:00-7:00am: Sand Conditioning & Strength Endurance
9:00-10:15am: Easy Run + General Strength/Running Technique
6:00-7:15pm: Easy Run + General Strength/ Running Technique

Wednesday @ Pepper Tree Playfield

6:00-7:15am: Interval Training
9:00-10:15am: Interval Training
6:00-7:15pm: Interval Training

Saturday @ various locations in Ventura & LA County
7:00am: Trail or Beach Run*
