Sports Academy Swish is an Official Member of the Nike Girls Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) which is the premier youth league in the country. As one of the 32 Nike EYBL teams, we compete against top competition in the most prestigious events from coast-to-coast with maximum exposure to college coaches and media.
With the opportunity to compete to be crowned Nike National Champions, Sports Academy Swish emphasizes teamwork, commitment and a positive attitude for the team and each player to maximize their potential.

SWISH HISTORY
Sports Academy Swish is an Official Member of the Nike Girls Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) which is the premier youth league in the country. As one of the 32 Nike EYBL teams, we compete against top competition in the most prestigious events from coast-to-coast with maximum exposure to college coaches and media. With the opportunity to compete to be crowned Nike National Champions, Sports Academy Swish emphasizes teamwork, commitment and a positive attitude for the team and each player to maximize their potential.
Sports Academy Swish was formed through a partnership between Cal Swish and Sports Academy Foundation in 2021. Cal Swish has been the home for exceptional student athletes and coaches since the 1990’s and was one of the original Nike Girls EYBL programs. The dedicated coaching staff of Cal Swish has always provided the highest level of support to enable their players to reach their academic and athletic goals.
As a result, Cal Swish has produced 300+ Collegiate Athletes, 12 McDonald’s All-Americans and 20+ WNBA and Professional players.

Sports Academy is a full-circle facility designed to update the way men, women, and youth approach human performance, by creating a multi-platform environment that activates, educates, and provides an opportunity for athletes to unlock their full potential. The Academy enlists diverse experts to support youth, amateur and elite athletes with a full-circle approach that includes skills, performance, and cognitive training. Sports Academy operates three distinct business units: Sport-specific physical training academies, a sports-focused venture lab, and a charitable foundation. Sports Academy also houses facilities for Sports Medicine and Recovery in each of its academies.
Sports Academy Swish provides teams at various competitive levels. At each level of our program, our coaching staff’s focus on skills development and physical conditioning ensures that players get the most out of their natural abilities. We expect our players, coaches, and parents to respect opposing players, coaches, and officials by exhibiting good sportsmanship and proper basketball etiquette. Most importantly, we work to provide a bright future for every player in our program by teaching them leadership, resiliency, and a positive self-image.

Gideon Gamble is a key figure at Sports Academy, bringing years of professional experience and a deep passion for athlete development. A former standout collegiate basketball player at Winthrop University, Gideon combines his firsthand knowledge of elite competition with a strategic approach to athlete training. His commitment to fostering growth in young athletes, both on and off the court, has made him an integral part of Sports Academy's mission.As a skilled trainer and mentor, Gideon focuses on building not only technical skills but also the mental resilience required to succeed at the highest levels. His leadership in basketball programs, coupled with his ability to inspire and connect with athletes, ensures that Sports Academy remains a premier destination for player development. Gideon’s dedication to excellence is evident in his approach to personalized coaching, innovative training methods, and his emphasis on character development. His goal is to help every athlete unlock their potential and achieve greatness in both sports and life.
Terri Bamford Head coach at La Jolla Country Day School since 1997. Led her teams to multiple state championships, CIF titles, and regional titles.Developed high-level talent, including players who moved on to college and the WNBA.Inducted into the Breitbard Hall of Fame, highlighting her lasting impact on high school basketball.
Jody Wynn is the head coach at Mater Dei High School; previously the Head Coach at Long Beach State and the University of Washington. Wynn is a former USC player who contributed to her team’s Pac-10 Championship and NCAA tournament runs. The Wynn family is deeply involved in basketball, with her husband coaching at UC Irvine and her daughters playing at high levels, including Jada at Texas Tech and Kaeli on our Swish 17U EYBL team.
Stan Delus is the head coach at Etiwanda High School, known for his strong defensive coaching style.Led Etiwanda to consecutive CIF Open Division state championships. Delus was named the 2022-23 MaxPreps National Coach of the Year and 2023-24 MaxPreps National Champion. He is known for his tactical expertise and motivational leadership, making him one of the top high school coaches in the country.
Ray Bennett is the head coach at St. Anthony High School and long-time Cal Sparks club coach. Bennett has deep community ties with his family, as his daughters have come up through Cal Sparks and advanced to play college basketball. He recently contributed to the Cal Sparks’ EYBL 17U team, achieving a national championship and showcasing Southern California talent on a national stage. He is known for developing young talent and promoting basketball in the community.
William Haley is the 17U EYBL coach with Cal Sparks, recognized for his contributions to their national championship in the Nike Nationals Platinum Division. Haley played a major role in helping players earn high-major college scholarships and preparing them for competitive college basketball. He is known for his effective mentorship and coaching style, which has fostered high performance in players and helped build a strong basketball community.
Kerri Husbands is the head coach at San Clemente High School, known for building a strong, competitive program and fostering player development. Husbands is a former standout player at the University of California, Berkeley (Cal), where she was recognized for her leadership and high basketball IQ. She has extensive experience coaching at both the high school and club levels, specializing in player skill development and team culture. She is known for her positive mentorship, strong communication skills, and commitment to helping young athletes reach their full potential.
Jason Ancrum is the head coach at Chaminade High School, where he is building a strong, competitive program with a focus on player development and team culture. Ancrum is the former head coach at Agoura High School, where he led the team to a CIF Southern Section Championship, revitalizing the program and achieving new heights of success. Jason is an experienced coach and trainer with a strong background in skill development, helping players advance to collegiate opportunities. He is recognized for his high-energy coaching style, excellent communication skills, and positive influence on players, fostering a strong sense of teamwork and growth
