John Anselmo joins the Sports Academy Coaching team as the Head Coach for the Girls U14 club team, Assistant Coach for the Boys U14’s team and by providing individual or group private lessons along with other contributions to the club volleyball clinics.
John has coached youth volleyball teams for 7 years across several different age groups in Southern California at the highest level. John has also volunteered as an assistant at the college level as a setter coach. He has also guided many youth players to their respective varsity teams and even to collegiate programs afterwards.
John graduated from Thousand Oaks High School after playing on the varsity team for 4 years. In 2017 and 2018, John represented the USA at the High Performance Championships as a setter where he competed against several other youth international teams. Since then, John has played 4 years of NCAA Division 1 volleyball at Cal State Northridge (2) and Concordia University Irvine (2) as a libero and outside hitter. Across his 4 years he started in over 40 matches, accumulated over 150 kills and over 450 digs. In his senior year, John was awarded to the MPSF All-Academic Team. In his free time, John likes to golf, camp, snowboard, play beach volleyball, and compete in any other games with his friends and family.
