Recreational League Goals
Our objectives are to develop and offer the players the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills while instilling life lessons and values such as character, respect, accountability, teamwork and sportsmanship to all who will participate in the Sports Academy Spring Youth League. Applying the discipline of sports, all participants shall endeavor to teach sportsmanship in a team environment, physical fitness through individual effort, and wholesome well-being through physical activity and social association with other youths under proper adult leadership. The objective will be achieved by providing a competitive, supervised youth basketball rec league.
SPORTS PERFORMANCE – League Teams (6U-16U) Description
ALL CURRENT LEAGUE MEMBERS can participate for free at their assigned times.
Human development from birth to adulthood is a continuous process that requires key physical, mental, emotional, and cognitive stages. Children of ages from 6-16 should focus on refining general fundamental movement skills. An area of importance is speed training which includes activities such as acceleration and deceleration mechanics, rapid changes of direction, cutting drills, & agility that contributes to the Long-Term Athletic Development model. Bodyweight strength training is another essential area where athletes will learn to control their bodies/limbs during sports activities in skills such as planks, push-ups, and squats to lay the foundation for progressive strength training methods throughout human development.
