We All We Got…

The performance and sports staff at Sports Academy is special. They dedicate most of their time to helping visitors improve and unlock their full potential. And they dedicate much of the rest of it to their own self-improvement.

Take, for example, Phil Muscarella.

Phil is a strength and performance trainer and he is a soccer skills trainer. In those roles, the well-qualified Phil helps dozens of SA athletes get better. Then, once he takes care of biz, the ever-athletic Phil dives in to his side passion: CrossFit competition.

Recently, he competed in the 2019 CrossFit Cascade Classic.

(FYI: A CrossFit competition is compiled of athletic workouts consisting of an assortment of standard aerobic, weightlifting and gymnastic movements. Typically, there are some surprise elements added to raise the competitive bar.)

Over the course of two days, the Cascade Classic had the following events organized and timed to challenge the athletes to their maximum physical ability:

  • Balls and Bells: Wall Ball and GTO
  • Ski 50/40 Cals; Echo Bike 1.5/1 miles; 500m row (timed)
  • Rope climb; HSPU and Double Unders
  • Deadlifts; Hang Power; Shoulder to overhead; OHS; Burpees over the bar; Weight drops
  • Snatch

Phil showed up and showed out. He finished a noteworthy third place, utilizing his muscle, ease of movement and Sports Academy Pro Mindset to beat out the comp.

Phil, on those days, made SA proud of his accomplishments. On every other day, he makes SA proud with how he approaches his clients and how he helps them get better in small and large ways.

Every SA trainer has a story, and we will tell them all. For now, if you want to learn more about working with Phil or the rest of the performance or sports skills trainers, shoot us a message or call 1 (844) 518-7246.
